Notes for November 16, 2010 Meetings
First, thank all of you for your thoughts and prayers over the last two weeks. It has was a gruelling time for our family but also a time when all of us were able to enjoy the many acts and thoughts of kindness and friendship you each have provided us. Thank you from all of us (three children, 10 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and two in-law grandchildren).
Also, keep Councilman Terry Wheeler in your thoughts and prayers. Terry told me on Thursday morning that he wasn't feeling very good. I guess even he didn't just how bad he was feeling.
We have two agendas with action items for the second meeting in November. The first is the Public Works Authority where you are being asked to consider the bids for the Neptune Water Tower Rehabilitation Project. I would remind you that we have made a $75,000 provision in our budget for this much needed improvement. The City should do this every 10 years or so. This project has been delayed much longer than that.
There are four action items on the City Council Agenda. The first two items are related and considering the events of the last week may need to be delayed until our next meeting or carried over to a special meeting. Councilman Jordan has tendered his resignation from the Council. If you accept the resignation with only three in attendance we won't have a quorum to conduct any more business. While his resignation is immediate, that is immediate upon your acceptance. It is my suggestion that you take no action on the first two items.
We are asking you to consider the condemnation of property at 1007 Avant owned by John C. Kindred. Code Enforcement Officer Toby Anders will be present to present you with the facts, including pictures, concerning this property.
The final action item is to consider Ordinance Number 928 regarding amendments to our Employee Retirement System, Defined Benefit Plan with the OMRF. This something we routinely do as changes occur with the IRS Code and Federal and State Statues.
