Manager's Notes to Council for October 5, 2010 Meetings
We will have two agendas with action items next Tuesday. Under the Public Works Authority you are being asked to consider declaring certain equipment included in the lease to Sport Chassis, LLC as surplus for the purpose of disposing of the equipment. Most of this equipment has been out-of-date and depreciated off the books of the company several years ago. Some of the equipment is still at the plant and has been depreciated off our books as of March of this year. In an effort to keep our fixed asset list up-to-date, we are asking for the authority to surplus the property and clear it off our books. All of this equipment has a value of $0.00 on our books and the company's books.
Under City Council agenda there are three action items. The first action item is to consider closing the a part of Frisco Ave. on Veteran's Day for a parade to be sponsored this year by the JROTC at Clinton High School. The second action item is to consider and expenditure of funds for wildland gear for the Fire Department. This expenditure of funds comes from a BIA grant with the City's match portion being $980.00 with the grant covering the remainder of $9,800. While this expenditure of City funds is within my spending authority, we felt that the grant should be acknowledged formally with a vote by you.
The final agenda item is to consider the approval of an agreement for professional services. We have discussed the need for a new roof on City Hall at our budget workshops. Due to the need to engineer the roof support for increased wind, snow, and rain loads (meaning more than just weight), we have sought the services of a design architect and engineer that specializes in roofs. That person is John Buckley of ARC Architects and Roof Consultants, PLLC. Mr. Buckley has many years of experience in this field. He designed the new roof for the SWODA building.
We have received news earlier today concerning a tragic accident that claimed the life of 13 year old Brice Atchley. Brice is the first cousin of Councilman Bob Marcy's grandson. Please keep this family in your thoughts and prayers.
