The Police Department currently has positions available in the Patrol and Communications Divisions.
Patrol Officer:
Minimum Requirements
At least 21 years of age
Valid Driver's License
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Pass written examination and background investigation
Pass Oklahoma Police Pension physical examination
Pass Psychological examination
Beginning salary for Patrol Officer ranges from $30,785 to $36,844 depending on the individual's training and education. Incentive pay is available if a person possesses any of the following:
College Degree
Intermediate or Advanced CLEET certification
CLEET certified Instructor in Defensive Tactics, Firearms, or LEDT
Bi-lingual
The city employee benefit package includes life, health, and dental insurance, Oklahoma Police Pension and yearly step increases. The Department provides all necessary equipment. A Patrol Officer is required to work rotating shifts which rotate every 3 months. The Patrol Division currently works 8 hour shifts 5 days per week with 2 days off.

Communications Officer:
Minimum Requirements
At least 18 years of age
High School Diploma or GED
Valid Driver's License
Must pass psychological examination
Must pass physical examination and drug screen
Applicants are subject to criminal history check and background investigation

Ability to multi-task
Good communication skills
Duties and Responsibilities
Answer emergency and non-emergency telephone calls for Police, Fire, and Ambulance
Relay and assign calls for service to Patrol Officers, Ambulance, and Animal Control via police radio
Perform OLETS checks on persons and vehicles
Book prisoners in and out of the City Jail
Maintain warrant files and Department records
Communication Officers receive the standard City benefits package consisting of life, health, dental insurance and City pension plan. The Communications Division works 8 hour shifts 40 hours per week, rotating monthly. Each Communication Officer may be required to work nights and weekends at various times during the rotating shifts. All necessary training is provided by the Department. Entry level salary is approximately $25,548 with an increase to $27,062 when OLETS certified.
